The Vets

Shona McTaggart
Veterinary surgeon

Shona qualified from Glasgow University in 1995. She worked in North West England for a few years in mixed practice before coming back home to join her father Allan McTaggart at the family practice in Dalry. Since Allan’s retirement in 2008 Shona has enjoyed running over the business and continually growing the family reputation the practice has built up. She is particularly proud to be one of the few remaining independently owned & run veterinary practices in Ayrshire.
Shona particularly enjoys performing surgery as well as seeing a wide range of medical cases.

Out of work Shona spends her time off outdoors often in Arran with her partner Nick walking her Hungarian Vizslas Scrumpy and new addition puppy Frazzle, as well as enjoying crossfit, cycling and snowboarding. Jack the elderly cat is another family member who  lives in Arran  with Nick.

Jennifer Kirkpatrick
Veterinary surgeon

Jennifer qualified from Glasgow University in 2000. She originally comes from Aberdeenshire where she grew up on the family farm but now enjoys life in Ayrshire living in the country with her farmer husband and 2 young children Ross and Eve along with dog Iris and cat  Johnny Cash. Leaving the big animals to her other half since the practice became small animal only Jen especially enjoys medical cases.

Anna Bassett
Veterinary surgeon

Anna qualified from Glasgow University in 2001. She spent many years working at a mixed practice in Bishopbriggs. Originally from Ayrshire,  Anna returned to the area followed by a  career break to have her 2 children. Ann returned to veterinary work to join the practice. We are delighted to have Anna as part of the team where she spent lots of time as a vet student.
Anna enjoys interacting with clients, medicine cases and surgery.
